Our Mission

To provide educational opportunities to children in economically depressed societies, so they may change their society for the better. We continue our support of the ICFP Baucau Teachers Training College in Timor Leste, the Maternal Childcare Program, Youth in Sport in Baucau and newly also Veterans Transition Australian program.

Our vision is to contribute to the power of change in these societies through targeted educational fundraising in Australia.

 

Why East Timor?

• East Timor (Timor-Leste) was an ally of Australia losing 40,000 of its people in WW2, fighting with the diggers against the Japanese

• Located only 600 km from Australia’s coastline, approximately 46% of East Timor’s population have ever had any schooling

• The illiteracy levels are approximately 60% women and 44% men

• The population is just over 1,000,000 people with over 50% under 21 years old

• International experience shows that improving levels of education in emerging societies drives economic prosperity

• East Timor is not presently equipped to educate its young children to international standards
